Yes, as of July 2022, a state certification is mandatory.
Usually between 2-4 hours.
Given that the program is recent, various informal terms are circulating to refer to the required credentials for alcohol service in California. The most accurate term to use is “RBS Certification.”
There are no physical or downloadable RBS certificates. Once you complete training and pass the final ABC exam, the status on your RBS Server dashboard will be updated from Not Certified to Certified. You can track the certificate using your Server ID number from your RBS Server dashboard. Your employer might request this number to verify your certification.
You can’t. You must register first in the RBS Portal, take this course and finally pass the final exam with the state.
Our course is designed to align closely with the exam, and our final quiz features questions that closely mirror those found in the ABC’s exam. The exam allows for an open note, open-book format without a time constraint, and offers the flexibility to pause and resume as often as needed. If you encounter a difficult question, you’re encouraged to revisit our course materials to find the solution.
The exam consists of 50 random questions and you have 3 chances to pass with a score of 70% or better within 30 days of this training. If you fail all 3 times, you will be required to take a new training course and pay an extra $3 fee to retake the exam.
The certification lasts for 3 years. After that, you will need to retake the course and the final ABC exam.
